Q: What is Mediation?
A: Mediation is an intervention by an
impartial third party who "mediates" between two sides in a
dispute, in an attempt to help them reach an agreement.
There may be certain instances when a mediator can
assist in resolving issues relating to your divorce. This may also be
beneficial to both parties, as it can save time and money.
Although it is possible to go through mediation
without hiring an attorney to represent your own personal interests,
it is still recommended for each party to have personal
representation. In an ideal situation, your attorney will serve as an
advisor and give you the knowledge you require to effectively
negotiate and settle your case through the mediation process.
